In New Zealand, most students on a student visa can work part-time while they study and some can work full-time during the semester breaks. Masters by Research and PhD students do not have a limit on the hours they can work and many of them work in their research related fields.
The best job options to suit your average study schedule are in hospitality (bars, restaurants, cafes) and retail (clothing stores), or as a fruit picker during the summer holidays.
