Advanced Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering

This course covers a range of engineering specialities including road, rail, and drainage systems, dams, harbours, bridges and buildings in order to extend your knowledge so that you can plan, design, develop and manage construction and repair projects relating to these disciplines. You will learn a range of engineering drafting standards and receive exposure to computer-aided design (CAD) programs selected from AutoCAD, Microstation, Revit and 12D. This course will be delivered at East Perth and Perth campus. Specialised classrooms are available across both campus locations and classes will be scheduled to provide you access to these facilities. After completing this course you can continue your education at university.

Diploma of Screen and Media Film and Television

This industry focused course will provide you with the specialist knowledge to operate individually or collaboratively within the media industry. During your studies you will learn a number of skills including how to operate professional cameras, edit video and audio using industry-standard software, lighting techniques, work as part of a media production crew and develop script content ideas for production. You will have the opportunity to access industry standard studios and be part of professionally run productions. The practical experience acquired will be used to work as part of a media production crew, and the confidence to shoot footage/film for projects including a short documentary. Additional access is available to other practical training projects and student networking.

Certificate IV in Community Services

Progress your career in the community services sector with this qualification. Learn the problem solving skills needed to work with people from diverse backgrounds, enabling you to make a difference to their circumstances. You will be qualified to work within a community services framework and help plan and conduct group activities for clients, whilst implementing health promotion programs. Gain a range of practical skills and knowledge that will assist you to respond and intervene when critical situations arise, such as children at risk, mental health and domestic violence. As part of this course you will undertake a supervised or simulated work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned. If you wish to further your studies, you can enrol into Diploma of Community Services.

Certificate III in Carpentry

Pursue your dream to become a carpenter with this practical, hands on qualification that will teach you how to use explosive power tools and carpentry tools to build structures such as pitched roofs, ceiling frames, eaves, wall frames, roof trusses and flooring systems. It covers techniques such as levelling operations, excavation, demolition of minor building structures, measurements and calculations, erecting and dismantling restricted scaffolding, and setting out projects. In addition you will learn how to assemble partitions, construct bulkheads, build timber external stairs, construct, and erect and dismantle form work for stairs, ramps, footings, ground slabs, suspended slabs, columns, beams and walls. Installing and replacing windows, linings, panelling and moulding is also part of the course content, along with how to interpret plans and understand the occupational health and safety requirements for the construction industry. This course is ideal if you love working outdoors with wood structures, have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to complete work to a high standard.

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery

Gain the practical skills and knowledge to be able to plan, organise, prepare and cook food in a range of commercial workspaces including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, events and functions, residential facilities and lunch bars. Learn skills in food safety, working with others, using equipment, menu planning, and the preparation of dishes such as appetisers, poultry, seafood, meat dishes, desserts and cakes. In addition, you will learn all aspects of organising, preparing and cooking a variety of food items across different service periods and menu types, using a range of cooking methods and team coordination skills. During your studies you will practice your cooking skills in the training kitchens and restaurant located on campus. These facilities offer valuable hands- on learning experiences through menu planning, teamwork and meal preparation conducted in a professional manner. Upon completing this course, you will acquire skills that readily transfer to employment opportunities in tourism and hospitality businesses and kitchen settings.
