Macquarie University Ranked #1 Globally for Accounting and Taxation

Macquarie University has achieved the top global ranking in Accounting and Taxation, as highlighted in The Australian’s 2025 Research Magazine published this month.

This accomplishment builds on three consecutive years of being recognized as Australia’s top institution in this field.

We are thrilled to share that Professor John Dumay, from the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie Business School, has been named Australia’s foremost expert in Accounting and Taxation. Professor Leonie Tickle, Executive Dean of Macquarie Business School, congratulated Professor Rahat Munir, Head of the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, along with the exceptional academic team behind this success.

“This recognition underscores the world-class expertise, quality, and impact of Macquarie Business School’s research in accounting and taxation. Our researchers are at the forefront of addressing some of the most pressing global challenges,” she stated.

Additionally, The Australian’s 2025 Research Magazine has ranked Macquarie University as Australia’s leading research institution across 11 disciplines, with eight researchers being named as the top Australian leaders in their fields. This further solidifies Macquarie’s reputation for research excellence.
