As part of my degree, I did an Academic Internship via Careers Central at a property tech company. The careers team was exceptional, going beyond my expectations to source an internship that would suit my needs. It was very eye-opening and one of the best internships I’ve ever done; it really honed in on how analytics can impact business decision making.
In July 2017, I borrowed some money and moved to Australia with my supportive husband and two kids to try and start a new life for ourselves. I studied English and then applied for an MBA with a specialisation in Digital Management at Kaplan Business School (KBS). It was a career investment; I knew gaining local market knowledge would help me progress in my career.
So far, the biggest surprise has been how holistic the subjects are, such as Emotional Intelligence, Cultural Intelligence and Diversity.
They really make me look deeper into myself and assess how I want to be as a human being, young entrepreneur and potential leader. I think it’s really allowed me to explore more about my true self.
I had dreams of implementing wide-scale changes but could see limits placed on my potential due to my lack of formal education. As a manager of an international student recruitment agency at the time, I decided to combine my practical business management experience and passion for this area of health, to gain entry to an MBA at Kaplan Business School (KBS). I had placed students at KBS before and heard their positive experiences first-hand.
What’s more, they offered a dual specialisation option in Health Services Management and Entrepreneurship. I saw this as the perfect combination to equip me in both business skills and specialised health knowledge.
