The UNSW College Diploma Program provided me with the necessary knowledge and experience to be able to transition to my undergraduate study at UNSW as smooth as possible. The program also helped me to leverage both hard and soft skills such as presentation skills, communication skills and time management. With the preparation for my undergraduate study through the program, I was able to perform well and finish my undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Renewable Energy Engineering smoothly. I was able to achieve my dream career and I am now working as a Graduate – Plant Performance Engineer at RES Australia.
Being a UNSW College student, I had the opportunity to not only meet friends from different backgrounds but also experience smooth transition to studying, living, and working in Sydney through the sheer amount of support from teaching staff and hands-on activities. The experience I had in the program became the foundation of my endeavours in UNSW, especially in becoming culturally fit with the dynamics in Australia. It was my first steppingstone to becoming more confident in working with different context thanks to the College experience, which helped me to get into university societies, my internship, and my graduate role today.
With excellent support from academic and student support teams, I did not need to worry about any external factors that could potentially affect my student life, all I needed to do was to be on top of my studies and be consistent with my effort so that I got to my desired place. Now I can proudly say I am exactly where I want to be! UNSW College prepared me for the undergraduate program in several ways. It taught me the basic fundamentals to being a successful student. For example, turning in quality assignments, time management, following directions, usage of teamwork and communication with peers and teachers and organisation skillset. I’ve learned from my failures and successes at UNSW College, which has made me more cognizant of my academic decisions. I no longer require reminders because I believe I had already grown into a self-starter. I feel that I was well equipped with these qualities when I came out of UNSW College, and the university was where I put them to test.
