Integrated English
Integrated English (IE) will improve your everyday and academic English skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. At higher levels, the course will help you prepare for the Academic IELTS test. You will have the opportunity to choose an elective class* as part of your course. Possible electives include Business English, Academic English Skills, IELTS, Pearson PTE-A and Tourism and Hospitality. *Dependent on student numbers and course level Who is this program for? Integrated English is ideal for a wide range of abilities and goals. Study English for life, travel or pathway into the UQ College Foundation Program. Integrated English is also suitable for students wishing to study in an English medium university and who need an IELTS score to enter.
Bridging English
Bridging English (BE) is UQ College’s most popular English language pathway, with five entry points for admission into UQ programs. Who is this program for? BE students can use their final BE assessment to satisfy the English language entry requirements for their UQ program. What you will learn develop your proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking extend your range and use of academic vocabulary apply a range of skills needed to understand complex reading and listening texts speak clearly and confidently in a range of contexts express ideas in writing using appropriate features of academic writing learn to appropriately use key grammatical structures in writing and speaking.
English for Academic Communication (EAC)
English for Academic Communication (EAC) courses are free academic communication skills workshops for international students and students with English as an additional language. They equip UQ students with the language skills they need to participate fully and succeed in their course. EAC runs every semester and enrolments open the week before O-week.
Foundation Program
The UQ Foundation Program is designed to enable international students to meet the minimum entry requirements for their preferred UQ undergraduate program. Three options are available in the Foundation Program: Extended, Standard and Accelerated. The most suitable program for you will depend on your previous study and your English proficiency. You will study five courses (subjects) for the entire duration of the Foundation Program. You can choose your electives to meet the entry requirements for your chosen undergraduate program. A Foundation Program Stream details the core and elective courses that relate to your target undergraduate degree.
UQ College Integrated English Scholarship 2026
This scholarship is designed to support international students from eligible countries to enrol in our Integrated English program. Scholarship recipients must choose to study for a minimum of 15 weeks and up to a maximum of 45 weeks. The scholarship is available until the final intake starting on 9 November 2026.
